3 unforgettable excursions you can do in Tulum

Tulum is one of the privileged sites of Quintana Roo, as it is close to beautiful natural views, archaeological ruins, cenotes, parks, lagoons, etc. Here we leave you these recommendations if you want to go on an excursion and enjoy this unique destination.

Climb the pyramids in Coba

Coba Tulum Ruins

Coba was an important Mayan city and currently one of the archaeological ruins that can be visited in Quintana Roo. However, due to its location it is not as frequented as other ruins. The advantage of this is that you can still climb the pyramids and tour the surrounding jungle. One of the pyramids has 120 steps, so you'll want to do it carefully, especially when going down.

Another advantage is that 10 minutes driving there are cenotes, so you can take advantage of the trip and swim in these natural wonders, they are also a great way to cool off after having traveled the roads of Coba.

Visit a biosphere reserve that is a world heritage site

Sian Ka'an

Sian Ka'an is a biosphere reserve that contains tropical forests, mangroves and a great wealth of flora and fauna. There are at least 300 species of birds, as well as various endemic animals of the region. It has approximately 120 kilometers of coastline, with beautiful waters and unforgettable views.

Once you are there, you can also take the opportunity to take a boat ride that will take you through the lagoon. The waters are so crystal clear that you can see the diversity of fish, in addition to many types of birds.

Although it is not so easy to arrive on your own due to the road, there are several tours that can take you to this site, it is worth that investment since you will be fascinated. You can also venture if you have a USV or a 4 × 4 vehicle.

Swim in the Kaan Luum lagoon

Kaan Luum Lagoon

This lagoon is only 40 minutes from Tulum and is not as well known as others, so you will not find as many visitors as in more tourist areas. Its waters are emerald and calm for swimming.

There is also an 82-meter cenote where you can dive with an extra cost at the entrance. It is highly recommended to go early to enjoy the beauty of this lagoon, especially the colors of the water will leave you amazed.

There are no restaurants, so we recommend you bring food and water that can be enjoyed in a large palapa designed for that. Also remember to use only biodegradable sunscreen as it is very important to continue taking care of this natural paradise. In addition, it is only 11 minutes away from your stay!
